Bousquet the son of a sewing machine retailer, Jean Louis Henri Bousquet was virtually born into the fashion world in Paris, 1932 and was later properly trained in college school as a tailor. He labored two years professionally as a fashion designer prior to going back to Paris to establish his first fashion house. He drew his first creations in a small studio and set up his fashion house in a garret in the Marais. His following success encouraged him to envisage and establish Cacharel in 1962, a business of ready-to-wear apparel, fragrances and accessories influenced by his distinct perception of women’s social progression. In 1964 he presented the homonym business with a selection of brilliantly colored dresses and blouses that infuriated the fashion world but was indisputably a triumphant name inspired by the garganey, a scarce breeding duck native to Arles, France.

Continuing to be a privately held business, today’s contemporary transformation of the brand is fronted by the Brit design and style team, Clements Ribiero.
