Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein Designer History:
Born in 1942, as a boy Calvin Klein learned by himself how to sketch and sew. A leading innovator in the field of fashionable jeans, underwear and the complete, all-American appearance, Calvin Klein is one of the fashion world's greatest brands.

In his youth, the young Klein begun drawing fashion styles, mainly of ladies outfits. It seems his passionate fire for fashion is exactly what drove him away from the Bronx area where he grew up. He continued to achieve a seat at New York's High School of Art and Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology at which he studied clothing design and style, and eventually introduced his own brand, in cooperation with his good child-hood friend Barry Schwartz, in 1968.

In 1968 when Klein launched his own clothing business, It was in a rickety display-room in which luxury retail merchant Bonwit Teller instantly found his jackets and dresses.

At the beginning of 1970s Calvin Klein presented his famous jeans popular until today, that carry his brand name on the back-hand pocket and were trimmed for firmer fits compared to regular jeans of those times. Right from his early start he built a name for himself as a fashionable designer who moved the boundaries with attention grabbing advertising.

Ten years later, Klein surprised the underwear universe with his masculine - fashioned briefs for ladies, one thing no other designer had thought of until then. Women's briefs are very fashionable these days, thanks to Klein. Another significant event took place in the 80s when Calvin Klein unveiled his first cologne - Calvin for Men, a fresh, simple fragrance, reaching fame right from the moment of its public appearance.

Known as 'Calvin the Conqueror' and named as one of America's 25 most important figures by Time magazine, Klein has served in forming the everyday wear world and played a important role in innovative advertising. He triggered a rage of dispute the moment he had Richard Avedon picture Brooke Shields at age of puberty for his 1979 jeans advertising campaign with the motto, "You know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing." British abandoned Kate Moss was to follow, supporting the roll-out of his unisex fragrance cK one, and part of several Klein fragrance collections.

In October 1999, Klein amazed the fashion universe yet again, when he said that he was thinking about selling his fashion house. As he noted he was seeking to grow his company "through sale, merger or strategic alliance". Seven months after, reported talks with Tommy Hilfiger and various others had no result; Klein verified that he had taken his $1-billion fashion house off the market.

Klein achieved numerous industry honors, such as the title of America's Best Designer for 1993, he is also on a number of committees, among them the Council of Fashion Designers of America. He has one daughter, Marci, and at this time is divorced from socialite and photographer Kelly Klein.

Calvin Klein Fragrance History:
Bringing to mind the brand Calvin Klein, primarily you imagine his clothing collection - mainly his jeans and underwear lines. Nevertheless Calvin Klein's inclination for fragrance was similarly as revolutionary as his storm into the fashion world.

Matching his clothing styles, Calvin Klein's fragrance range was unisex in its attractiveness. In 1985 he disturbed the perfume world with Obsession for Women, which included a musky scent, blurring the borders among the sexes. Not much time after Obsession for Women hit the fragrance industry that the men's version swiftly succeeded in the same path.

Calvin Klein flipped the fragrance world in 1989 when he launched Eternity. Today’s famous cologne had been a groundbreaker aroma for its time, even along the streamlined style of its glass vial. Eternity continues to be an amazing, classic fragrance today.

Klein adored the fragrance market so much he was rolling out fragrance after fragrance straight past the millennium: CK One, Contradiction, Escape, Eternity Rose, Truth and many more. Actually, Eternity Rose was such success that Klein formulated Eternity Purple Orchid and Eternity Moment for his dedicated fans.
