Unfortunately, the little wifey gave me a bottle of Dunhill Desire approximately 3 years ago. She loves the stuff. However, for me, this is syrupy sweet ad nauseum, vanilla-laden and definitely not to my liking. Some fragrances can be synthetic and still be likable. This one is synthetic and most UNlikable. I place DD in the same bucket with, say, Mugler's A*Men. I wish I could discreetly dump it or maybe give it to someone I don't like very much. This would clear one slot on the shelf for something I would actually enjoy wearing. But since it was a gift from mi esposa, well...you can appreciate my dilemma. I'm glad the bottle is not as unpleasant as its contents, because it seems I'll be staring at it for the next decade or so.

My favourite scent ever is Plus Plus by Diesel.
Desire shares some characteristics with Plus Plus so it's inevtiable that I will like it as well.
It's an odd scent to describe. As everybody points out it is sickeninlgy sweet and synthetic. Smells which shout out to me are cherry, mint, teak, vanilla, rose, musk, lime and apple.
It has a note in it somewhere that, for want of a better word, makes the overall smell feel 'hot' (as in temperature). Odd I know. It won't be everyone's cup of tea but I think it's great. I wear it a lot. It's potent too. I'm not to keen on the bottle though.

I have always been fond of Desire for a Man. Strong, unapologetic and demanding it has both my attention and two thumbs up!

It's time to do revision of my prior review, because I now realize that the way I perceive this scent depends on how I apply it. THIS MUST BE SPRAYED ON LIGHTLY! Any more than three spritzes, and I'm running to grab my barf bag. This is a truly sickening fragrance when it's oversprayed.
However, with just a spray on the back of my neck, one on my chest, and one on my wrists, Desire For Man is a well balanced, warm and rich floral oriental scent. I don't smell any rose, patchouli or other aromatics in this, but the neroli and orange blossom (two notes I almost always hate) here are crisp and bright, and they cut through the red sweetness. There are also some very subtle wood notes in here that serve simply to prevent this from smelling like a red lollipop.
I don't agree that this is only suited to younger guys. This will suit a man of any age, provided it's applied carefully.

we all have differing body chemistry, but this one smells sweet spicy and it feels comfortable to wear on my skin hence the thumbs up, when it is warm or i am hot it can be quite a heavy fragrance, ideally it would be great in cooler and cold conditions,a light spray is all that is needed,it gets mixed response from ladies,

Very sweet... too sweet in fact. Its synthetic smell reminds me of candy apples mixed with a bit of Earl Grey tea. I kind of like the smell of the scent (and love the smell of Earl Grey), but it gets annoying quickly and it is way too easy to over apply and clear a room, severely limiting the times and places you can wear the scent. I think the fresher flanker, Desire Blue, is a much more wearable and likable version.
