I have NEVER, EVER gone out and purchased the largest bottle of a new fragrance find before, but Chanel's Chance Eau Vive compelled me to do so! Having tried a squirt at my local Chanel counter while trying on lipsticks, I was immediately overtaken with with an inexplicable happiness. Aromatherapy? Perhaps! Unlike so many fruity/floral fragrances, Eau Vive has a depth and expansion of the opening citrus notes of grapefruit and blood orange down into the floral mid-layer and through to the final woody/musky iris base. This citrus blend is not the whangy-tangy sort, but refreshing and appealing. After a squirt the next morning from the sample nib my salesperson had packed with my purchase, I knew it was no fleeting impression. I had to have this scent! And besides the standard 1.7 and 3.4 oz. sizes, Chanel has produced a 5 oz. bottle rivaling the bowling balls in the promo ad, a perfect size for summer splashing of an eau de toilette. Having applied after shower this morning, I am still smelling the essence 6 hours later as I move about. It's delightful, it's de-lovely, it's delirious!
