Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere is totally divine, I received my bottle last week and tried it yesterday. Love at first smell you might say, it swept me off my feet, mildly sweet classy and mature lady like. As it develops and settles on the skin i pick up a distinct caramel sweetness that is pure ecstasy! This is like Chanel No 5's little cousin. Now in my top five all time favorites!

I never used to get on with Chanel perfumes... then I turned 35 and suddenly 'I get' Chanel! I don't know if it's my age, sense of self or sense of smell that's making the difference?! In any case I now LOVE many Chanel's.

I got No5 Eau Premiere over a regular No5 after many testings in the shop. I prefer it's lighter and softer scent. The initial spray gives a big burst of aldehydes and neroli on a thick bed of ylang ylang. Once this dries down jasmine blooms and blooms and blooms, followed by sandalwood and a hint of vanilla. An adorable and very versatile frag. I mostly wear it on Saturday day-time but occassionally it comes with me to the office also.

Producing any form of flanker for the No.5 collection is extremely risky. After all, you are dealing with one of the most sacred of cows, and any augmentation of the range had better be fit for purpose.

Personally, I think they did a marvellous job with Eau Premiere, not only in producing something with the requisite Chanel quality, but making it so contemporary and accessible. It’s much softer than the original, is less floral, and dare I say it, it’s even a little sweeter. The aldehydes are retained, but here they seem almost spent, and are just a gentle reminder of the connection to the original. This will appeal to young and old, male and female.

Ah... how glorious and accessible this scent is.

The sharp, soapy aldehydes, rich powdery florals, and slight animalic undercurrents of the original No 5 have been tamped down, and Eau Premiere moves from a luminous, vaguely-fruity opening into a very clean, fuzzy, suede-like vanilla that never becomes too sweet. The sillage is similar to No 5 EDT; present but not too big. (Just the way it should be.)

Eau Premiere is luxe and relaxed. It reminds me of lounging around laughing with friends in a posh powder-room, surrounded by the scent of expensive toiletries. While it won't have that chilly, goddess-like presence of its older sister, it's inviting, self-assured and takes itself far less seriously.
