Chanel Cristalle EDP has the most amazing oakmoss. Much more superior than the EDT. At first its sharp and bitter and then it becomes woody much more than the EDT. I have and love them both even though being so different i appreciate them equally.

I will admit that Cristalle is a challenging scent. It's a little too green.
That being said, I think it's a great warm summer fragrance. Am I weird? I guess I just associate sharp green with hot weather and I don't mind the bitter. Reminds me of going to my grandmothers swampy lakeside house in 100 degree heat and crawling through the brush to get my frisbee.
If you can't stand things like moss, vetiver and bergamot, you probably can't stand Cristalle. The juice itself is tinged green and smells like a dried out garden. Add some lemony juice and cloying flowers on the vine and you get this bitter greyish green aura.
Think No. 19 with all the softness removed.

I loved this version of Cristalle from the very first time I smelled it soon after its early 90s launch. Strangely, I've never tried the origianl EDT, which seems to be overwhelmingly preferred to this version, but that's okay. Cristalle EDP is perfection in my opinion - gorgeous citrusy, green and herbal topnotes moving into soft and suede-like florals and undertoned with a ribbon of tangy leather, the source of which is a mystery since leather's not an "official" note in the composition. Must be that magical House of Chanel alchemy. Perhaps for that reason, I reach for the Cristalle whenever I want to feel chic yet puzzling, happily paradoxical; wearing it with jeans and a cartoon-character t-shirt is one of my own little "inside jokes" to myself!

I love Cristalle EDP. It is warm and mellow and peachy/green in its dry-down. It has a certain "je ne sais quoi" ( - with apologies to all French speakers for any incorrect spelling - ) about it, too, which screams "classy, French, chic". It's this unknown quality that keeps me coming back for more. I have been through several bottles.
In the debate between the EDP and the EDT, I much prefer the EDP. Although the EDT is nice, it lacks the sunny warmth and ripe peachy-ness of the EDP. I also prefer Cristalle - both the EDT and the EDP - to Diorella which, although often favourably compared to Cristalle, smells quite sour on my skin.
To smell absolutely divine, I layer the EDP over the body lotion. Pure bliss!
Cristalle EDP is, in my view, the best Chanel by far......
By-the-way, I'd love to know where the name "Cristalle" came from. Can anyone tell me?
