Lancome La Vie Est Belle - Product Description OverviewLancômes new La Vie Est Belle fragrance concept revolves around the idea of breaking free from convention and choosing one's own vision of happiness. Lancôme International President Youcef Sue Nabi described the olfactory juice as an "unprecedented" creation, the work of noses Olivier Polge and Dominique Ropion. Iris is a key ingredient, along with patchouli, Tonka bean, praline, blackcurrant, orange blossom and jasmine. The formula was so complex it necessitated over 5,000 versions and three years of work. Nabi continued: "There was only one person in the world that could embody this new fragrance: an icon of happy femininity and one of the world's most famous and admired actresses. Of course this woman is Julia Roberts. With Julia, La Vie Est Belle and we have tried to capture this in an iconic [campaign] shot by Tarsem Singh". Julia Roberts: "The perfume smells so good, which is the only reason I agreed to it. I believe in smelling good, and as my husband said, 'people will think this is what you smell like'... It is a small-town girl's dream to be in a place like this. Thank you all for being part of it". The perfume bottle is a reworked version of a bottle Lancôme founder Armand Petitjean requested his then Artistic Director George Delhomme to create in 1949, entitled le sourire de cristal (the crystal smile).
