Orchid Leather was created by perfumer Julien Rasquinet, and discovers the 'leathery aspects' of plants, specifically those of cistus and vanilla. An enveloping note highlighted by an elegant incense and a surprising accord of plum and cardamom, candied and spiced. A potent and sophisticated elixir.

Orchid Leather A Mysterious Beauty is Revealed

With the fragrance Orchid Leather, Van Cleef & Arpels delivers an exclusive presentation of leather, developed by perfumer Julien Rasquinet.

Originally from the Mediterranean basin, cistus has been applied in perfumery for centuries. In ancient Egypt it was regarded sacred, just like myrrh and frankincense. Gathered from branches collected in the summer, the cistus emits a rich aroma in which a leathery facet mixes with tones of amber and wood. A structured perfume that, in the heart of Orchid Leather, unveils all its depth when mixed with the sweet and warm tonalities of the vanilla absolute.

Gathered still green, the pods of the precious vanilla plant - the only Orchid that can bear fruit - are dried to expose their wealthy variety of aromas. After several months, the pods give off a variety of woody, smoky and tobacco notes. When mixed with cistus, their wildest notes are revealed as if by magic.
