A Collection like a voyage, in search of the most exquisite raw ingredients from the East

In homage to the olfactory treasures of the Orient, the collection started its journey 2014 with Santal Royal and today continues its voyage, lead by the sensation of the greatest raw materials. Experiencing at this point and in other places, ancestral customs and modern composing, the Guerlain Perfumer brings his ingenuity and his timeless signature to the olfactory secrets of the original sources of perfumery.

The Perfumers new sensory quest envisioned by passionate exploration

This new creation commits a unique ode to patchouli, a noble ingredient whose sensual tones have surpassed the borders of the East to conquer the entire world. An eponymous legend of Patchouli Ardent, fulfilling the expert signature of Guerlain in an intense and luminous wake that captivates the senses.

Indigenous to Southeast Asia, patchouli was brought to Europe during the 17th century. Its leaves, which breathe out once dried a strong and very faceted woody odor, were then utilized to make mixtures, or to protect fabrics from the Orient during their transportation to the Old Continent. Associated with exoticism, a gateway to the Orient and its mysteries, patchouli has been, over the ages, the symbol of extreme refinement, a unique sign for the hippie generation, and an essential ingredient in modern perfumery, offering female and male compositions a unique depth and sensuality. Patchouli Aerdent reveals the glow of Patchouli

Thierry Wasser, Perfumer of the Maison Guerlain composed Patchouli Ardent giving a singular perception of this raw material, in contrast to the dark woody character which is usually linked with it.

At the heart of this fragrance, patchouli expands its most luminous features. This woody floral scent unveils its sophistication over the hours, it settles on the skin with spicy notes of spicy pink berries and intense black pepper, mellowed by a fig note both green and softly fruity. In the heart, patchouli and rose sublimate each other: with the monumental flower of oriental perfumery, they form a sensual and fascinating play together. Its deepest woody features then spread into a leathery and musky accord growing into this intense and fascinating arousal.

Probably for the first time, the iconic Guerlain bottle, influenced by the Abeille bottle of 1853, is covered in a striking blue lacquer finish. This magnificent tone sets up a graceful set-off with the golden accents of the bottle: its perfectly round cover, its trimmings ribbon and its label, in which its arabesques draw from the heritage of the House.

Patchouli Ardent will be available from mid May 2020 in Guerlain Boutiques
