Guerlain Place Rouge Perfume
In the year 1893 the GUM building was the highlight of the famed Red Square in Moscow and grew to be an image of style and luxury. Its revolutionary structure, constructed after an architectural contest, mainly for its skylight continue to this day to be one of its kind, leading to worldwide admiration of this spectacular construction.

In 2013, in recognition of the 120th anniversary of the famous GUM department store on Red Square the House of Guerlain is honoring an exceptional design, where the amalgamated of elements of customs, tradition and spirit with the rich heritage and the current ways of our times. The new scent Place Rouge, undoubtedly recognizes the excellent practices of the perfume house of Guerlain. Similar to a landscape scenery painting this perfume masterpiece is formulated of discreetly orchestrated notes creating a stunning aromatic sonata. The legendary Red Square for Russia is a symbol of the most frequented place that virtually breaths the history of this nation. It is believed that Russia originates from the Red Square, where the Gum is located and is one of the main points of interest.

Perfume Place Rouge discovers this location - the red surfaces of the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral, the fantastic classical facade of GUM in this clean, slightly powdery and ambery notes scent by perfumer of Guerlain Thierry Wasser, appreciating the beauty of the heart of Moscow. His first remembrance of the Red Square goes back to 1977, when he was fifteen years old with his most vivid impression of Russia when he visited together with his mother and went to the GUM. They found themselves in a remarkable place that offered hundreds of boxes of perfume. They were beautifully embellished with soft colors holding aromas of violets, irises and pale pink carnations. Thierry Wasser recalls when he left the fascinating building he sensed that his clothes were drenched with these aromas. For this reason when he was requested to develop a perfume named Place Rouge (Red Square) in recognition of the anniversary of GUM, in his thoughts instantly came up this scene where he is standing with his mother in the center of a huge place of historical appreciation tightly holding a bottle of perfume in his hands.

For this new Perfume creation he married the most gentle and feminine blossoms of jasmine, violet and heliotrope with energetic bergamot, orange blossom and rosemary. Its crest is laced with voluptuous patchouli and white musk. Place Rouge Eau de Parfum is a true fairy tale with its remarkable olfactory fragrance power. To describe a landscape we have experienced in reality we need a thousand words, but in the eyes of a perfumer he knows the art of magically blending up the impression of aromatic elements forming an aroma with powerful concepts and classy aspects that have the power to awaken our imagination. Jasmine turns into a wave of emotions, Violet becomes a passion, patchouli carries you to the stars and the whole scent travels you to this magical place.

This wonderful adventure requires a unique bottle. Not surprisingly, the Place Rouge shows up on the legendary bottle L'Abeille, which this year also celebrates its 160th anniversary. The bottle itself - is fantastic, yet the real story is when the princess marries the emperor. In 1853, Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain, appreciating the beauty, elegance, intelligence and culture of princess Eugene, as a wedding gift he decides to create for her "Eau de Cologne Imperiale" housing it in a sensational crystal bottle. A total of 69 gold painted raised bees adorned the bottle as a symbol of the Empire, reminding the imperial family coat of arms. Its golden finish is similar to the bee cell - not only a technical accomplishment, but the embodiment of the exclusive world of luxury, design and elegance. This captivating creation was so divine, that the Empress granted the title "official perfumer" of Her Imperial Majesty to Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain - the highest title for the supplier of the yard. With his excellent reputation travelling outside France, Guerlain reached to become an official supplier of luxurious courts all over Europe from Spain and Belgium to Russia and England. Ever since the bee has turned into a symbol of the house of Guerlain carried from generation to generation. A wonderful bottle with an exquisite label in gold lettering, on which is imprinted the traces of the famous GUM building, stylishly and superbly decorated with rosette of red moire ribbon (the legendary color of GUM!), bonded with a gilded medallion engraved with the Guerlain logo.

Guerlain Place Rouge perfume will be offered in limited edition numbered bottles in honor of the 120th anniversary of GUM and will be available for purchase exclusively from 25 September 2013 at GUM in 100ml sizes for the price of 350Eur.
