Issey Miyake New L'Eau d'Issey Shades of Kolam Fragrances

L'Eau d'Issey Shades of Kolam in Eau de Toilette, surfaced from a remarkable quest for exploration and an unparalleled collaboration amongst Marie Salamagne, perfumer, and the artist duo Twice Studio. These three designers connected in Chennai, at the center of Tamil Nadu in India and had a single goal: to explore and be influenced by the captivating art of the Kolam to develop the popular fragrances L'Eau d'Issey and transform L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme.

The creativity of the Twice Studio was obviously, the art of the Kolam, with its diverse wealth of colors and patterns. Bringing life to the bottles of this exclusive edition, the designers began from scratch and designed a typography in the Kolam style. The interweaving letters are proof of this delicate art. The fresh, bright colors result from the pigments used for the patterns on the floor. However they are furthermore also the colors of India, a nation where light transforms each color into different emotions.

The art of Kolam and what it represents

Kolam is a one of a kind art that has been passed on from mother to daughter, generation after generation, for generations. A practice that unites artistic expression and mathematical talents with ancient spreading methods. These geometric styles, which Indian women create with rice powder and color pigments, create fascinating arabesques that evolve in concentric circles to form mandalas. With its multitude of styles that combine in numerous ways, the art of Kolam calls for endless inspiration. Each creation brings together wonderful works of art with a dazzling color palette.

L'Eau d'Issey Shades of Kolam

Influenced by an astounding visit to India, perfumer Marie Salamagne reveals a new presentation of L'Eau d'Issey in a limited edition eau de toilette for women. Floral, sun-kissed and divine, L'Eau d'Issey Shades of Kolam reflects the sophisticated, vibrant arabesques by Kolam: notes of Indian jasmine interlace with ephemeral rose petals.

This eau de toilette starts with a grapefruit effusion and floral freesia notes with a touch of cardamom. An olfactive ambiance that demonstrates the gloss of the saris, in the light of the night, the candles in the temples. The key note is the jasmine Sambac, a seductive Indian jasmine that floods the senses.

To catch the whirling motions of the Kolam, the jasmine encapsulates itself in fading rose petals. The mystery of this spiritual lightness? Rather than a distillation, an infusion of the Centifolia rose, an extraction technique in which only the airy notes perform and the sensation of the petal is taken in motion. The enchanting notes in the trail catch the nearly meditative aspect of the Kolam, which appears half powder and half milk, the scent of Basmati rice.

And eventually, the cedar aroma with a touch of amber provides the entire composition a nearly mineral-like, super - fashionable note. A playful gesture from the city dweller!

The well-known Indian pink was selected for L'Eau d'Issey, a magnetic shade that delicately advances in the bottle and lets the finish to glow. Iconic images of this one of a kind encounter decorates the product packaging. A call to journey.

In this eau de toilette, the aroma of cardamom seeds is boomed, supported by grapefruit and bergamot. As a heart note, a touch of green tea flows over the splendor of the solid note of a coriander seed. The woody foundation note created from cedar and cashmeran is remembrance of the sizzling heat of southern India, but as well as the sweetness of a tea with milk and cardamom, which is served in the Chennai markets. A taste of pure deliciousness!

The inviting royal blue of this L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme showing up in a clear bottle is shown on the stopper.
