The huge ocean swells and contracts, trapped in the persistent pull of the moon. Under the surface, a school of squid appears. Unusual, stretching forms catapult from the deep in a frenzy search for nourishment. They are not on their own, their ruthless prey is waiting to pounce, only to be obstructed by blinding squirts of cloudy ink. The hunt stops suddenly as a monolith emerges, greedily swallowing all in its way.

The enormous sperm whale dives, leaving a momentary calm bobbing in its wake. Ages along, remains of the fight resurface in chunks of ambergris, discharged by the whale and buffed by salty currents, wash ashore. To the average observer It may seem like waste or flotsam but to the experienced perfumer this hard found substance is nothing less than natures treasure.
