Escada
Escada Designer History:
Fashion and design house Escada was established in 1976 by Wolfgang Ley from the US and his wife, Margaretha from Sweden and gave its name after a racehorse
Wolfgang Ley born in 1937 in the U.S. was a young, energetic, hardworking businessman who liked to extemporize. Margaretha born in Sweden in 1933 was a gorgeous Swedish lady and a top model for the Jacques Fath agency. They both happened to connect while snow skiing in St. Moritz. Soon after, when on a vacation to Portugal, Wolfgang and Margaretha put a bet on a horse named Escada, which means "flight of stairs" in Portuguese. They inevitably fell in love and turned out to be a unparalleled team.
The year 1984, Vogue periodical presented an extended multi-page clothing collection instantly giving Escada a huge promotion. Before long the company evolved into big success. Exactly what had been the factors for this achievement? In what way did Escada vary from its rivals? The factors may be easily described in a phrase: beautiful colors, stylish elegance, high quality and perfect fit.
Escada is regarded as one of the most prominent worldwide luxurious women's fashion brand names. Represented with stores in more than 50 nations worldwide, they have developed its global status on its professional dressmaking, utilizing lavish materials, color and focusing on fine detail. Escada creates two seasonal selections for its ready-to-wear sections: Escada, Escada Couture and Escada Sport, along with Escada Accessories, Escada Eyewear and Escada fragrances. The ranges are offered in over 450 retail spots in more than 50 nations around the world.
In 1986 Escada was listed for the first time on the stock exchange.
Leading the style and designing group, Margaretha Ley expressed her unique talent until the age of 59 when she unexpectedly passed away in 1992. The Escada chronicle started to fade with her death, when shortly after stormy moments followed. Once the problems were settled, over time Escada grew to be prosperous again and advanced from a fashion brand to a luxurious goods company.
