Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren Designer History:
First born as Ralph Lifschitz in the Bronx, New York on October 14. 1939 and later changed to Ralph Lauren when he was 16. Ralph's brother Jerry altered their last name from Lifshitz to Lauren and these days, Ralph Lauren is one of the most renowned brands in fashion around the globe. According to New York magazine he was "The first image-maker", Lauren is one of the fashion industry's greatest brands.

Ralph attended the Baruch College for two years at which he learned business and soon after offered his service to the United States Army. As opposed to the majority of fashion designers, Lauren never learned fashion, rather he labored as a sales rep at Brooks Brothers after his military release and then at Beau Brummell Neckwear where he designed Polo, an extremely thriving necktie industry. In 1968, he diverged away to work exclusively and introduced his first complete Polo menswear series, succeeded by women’s wear in 1971.

The stylish, preppy appearance of his designer ranges is now accompanied by the complete range of sportswear, casual wear and home furnishings.

Nowadays, RL's countless selections are recognized for their perfect example of class and quality representing the - American style of everyday elegance. With the symbol RL, Polo Ralph Lauren is a publicly traded company, on the New York Stock Exchange. Lauren's little, customized necktie company has turned into a billion-dollar lifestyle enterprise.
