Iris Torrefie by Guerlain is the new creation for the L'art & La Matiere line. Roasted Iris, the Parisian Coffee revisited by Guerlain.
From Apres L'ondee to Insolence, from L'Heure Bleue to L'Initial, via Shalimar, the iris is almost everywhere in Guerlain creations. Whether it is consecrated an undisputed star or it plays supporting roles, more important than it seems.
The L'art & La Matiere Collection had already put it in the spotlight in gourmand appearance with Iris Ganache, signed by Thierry Wasser in 2007, then discontinued in 2012, before returning for an ephemeral edition last year.
An incredibly noble material, majestic iris blossoms in this new chapter of L’Art & La Matière. An extraordinary, explosive encounter between full-bodied flavour and subtle softness, as smooth and powdery iris Pallida meets powerful coffee in a clash of olfactory forces.
Delphine Jelk alongside in House perfumer Thierry Wasser, has chosen to surround the butter with iris pallida, presented as an exceptional quality of the ingredient, cardamom, bergamot, intense and full-bodied coffee , of ambrette seed, vanilla tincture and "opopanine" , a balsamic note that the designer describes as "Shalimar amber" .
An original and subtle Iris, at first the iris blossoms immediately brings a cosmetic, creamy and powdery sensation. Then it quickly reveals facets of cocoa. Dark and slightly bitter, it reminds you of coffee, like roasted coffee beans. The roasted aspect with nuances of almond or even sesame and leathery texture, reveal a comfortable and reserved Guerlinade.
The coffee-coloured perfume is housed in a bottle with sleek, modern contours, adorned with a golden metal panel on the edge, just like a precious hardback book. The bottle is nestled within a “leather-feel” amethyst case (that can be turned into a jewellery box as you wish).
